The application and admission regulations for the academic year
2025-2026 shall be in accordance with the instructions of the Ministry of
Higher Education and Scientific Research announced in Circular No. B T 5/2888
dated 3/4/2025.

Note that studying at the Al-Alamein Institute for Graduate
Studies is considered a privately funded study, and any additions to these
instructions will be announced before the application deadline.
General conditions for admission:
General conditions for applying to the Al-Alamein Institute for Graduate Studies (Master's and
Doctorate)
First: Application to the Institute of Sciences is in two stages
(through the website of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific
Research, which is dedicated to postgraduate studies, at the
link(adm.rdd.edu.iq) and then visit the institute to submit the student’s file
in hard copy.
Second: The following conditions are required for electronic and
paper submission:
1. A graduation
certificate stating the applicant’s GPA and the GPA of the top student in the
batch for the master’s degree and the student’s GPA for the PhD, with the
academic background of both being identical. The PhD student must also submit a
graduation certificate for the bachelor’s degree in addition to the master’s
degree.
2. Certificate of
participation in English language, computer and Arabic language proficiency
courses.
3. An active and
valid email address for the purpose of activating the electronic application
form.
4. Two letters of
recommendation from the student's professors.
5. Security
clearances are approved for all applicants accepted into graduate studies,
provided that they complete the procedures from the date of issuance of the
university order of acceptance until the commencement of studies.
6. Anyone wishing to
apply for postgraduate studies must bring a pledge stating that they are not
subject to accountability and justice procedures.
7. Fill out the
application forms, Form No. (500), Business Report No. (501), and Written Obligation
No. (504).
8. (6) recent
colored photos with a white background + identification documents (civil status
ID + Iraqi nationality certificate + residence card or national card, if
available).
9. A (no-objection)
letter for employees issued by the competent department according to the
following formula (the department’s no-objection for the employee to apply for
postgraduate studies for the academic year 2020-2021 and grant him study leave
in the event of his acceptance. The study leave shall be brought for accepted
students within a maximum period of 60 days from the date of issuance of the
university order of acceptance.
10. An exception letter from the competent
minister in the official department for the student employee whose average is
less than (65) for the master’s student and for the doctoral student whose
average is less than (70) in the event of an exception.
Third: The institute has 5 channels for admission outside the plan
(Martyrs Channel, Compensation for Victims Channel, Prisoners Foundation,
People with Disabilities and Special Needs, allocating a study seat for a
doctorate for employees of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific
Research exclusively from holders of a master’s degree with academic titles
(Assistant Lecturer, Lecturer, Assistant Professor) only, studying at private
expense) and the applicant must note this when filling out the forms and
electronic and paper registration and according to the percentages allocated by
the ministry, noting that the institute has one channel within the plan
approved by the ministry, which is the special admission channel.
Fourth: Applicants for study at the institute are exempt from the
age and GPA conditions for non-employees only. As for employees, the Study
Leave Instructions Law No. 165 of 2011 applies to them.
Fifth: The electronic application to the Al-Alamein Institute for
Postgraduate Studies begins according to the ministerial system program on the
specified dates.
Sixth: Passing the competitive exam on the date specified by the
Ministry in the event of an extension of the specified period and conducting
the interview to determine the candidate for acceptance according to Form (506)
on a date specified on the day of the competitive exam and the results will be
announced during the month of July and the work will be in the middle of the
month of September.
Seventh: Those wishing to apply to the institute must follow the
official website in case there is any update to the above-mentioned data.
Conditions for students applying to study at the institute:
1. The applicant for
a master’s degree must hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
in the field he/she wishes to apply for.
2. The applicant for
a doctoral degree must have a master’s degree from a university recognized in
accordance with the standards and practices of the Iraqi Ministry of Higher
Education and Scientific Research.
3. The applicant
must be of good conduct and not have been convicted of a misdemeanor involving
moral turpitude.
4. Non-Iraqi
students are entitled to apply for admission to the institute in accordance
with the terms and conditions specified by the higher education and
postgraduate studies regulations.
Master's and PhD stages:
1. The duration of
the master’s degree is two years: a preparatory year of two semesters and a
second year for writing the thesis.
2. The preparatory
year consists of two semesters.
3. The second year
is dedicated to preparing the thesis.
4. The student has
the right to request an extension (for reasons presented to the Institute
Council that should be deemed convincing to them) twice only.
5. The duration of
doctoral studies (after the master’s) is three years, extendable twice in the
manner mentioned in paragraph 4.
6. The master's
thesis and doctoral dissertation shall be prepared under the supervision of a
supervisor chosen by the Institute Council from within or outside the
Institute, including recognized non-Iraqi universities.
About the study system at the institute:
1. The student has
the right to request an extension, and the Institute Council may approve the
request if it is convinced of the reasons stated therein. Extensions may be
granted twice, each time for six months.
2. The master's
thesis and doctoral dissertation shall be submitted to a specialized scientific
expert for evaluation, and his opinion on whether to accept or reject them for
discussion shall be non-negotiable.
3. The Institute
Council appoints a discussion committee of three or five members for master’s
degrees and five or seven members for doctoral degrees, including the
supervisor, who has a vote when awarding the degree like the other members. The
committee’s decision is taken by majority and based on one of the following
estimates:

Acceptable
a. The alocated
tuition fees for new students shall be paid immediately after their acceptance
is announced, and for students in general, before the start of the academic
period to which the tuition fee falls under.
b. Master’s tuition
fees (6) six million dinars for each year, and the total for the two years is
(12) million dinars.
c. Doctoral tuition
fees (6) six million for each year, and the total for the three years is (18)
million dinars.
d. The fees for each
six-month extension amount to (3) million dinars.
e. Any amount paid
to the institute is considered non-refundable, regardless of the reason.
