Al-Alamein Library was established at the Al-Alamein Institute for
Graduate Studies in Najaf in 2008, with an area of 1,700 square meters. Its
core was the books of Sayyid Muhammad Bahr al-Ulum (may God have mercy on him),
which he left behind when he left Iraq in the sixties of the last century. The
library then expanded to include a valuable collection of books in various
specializations, such as the sciences of the Qur’an, the Noble Prophetic
Hadith, the principles of jurisprudence, books of jurisprudence, literature,
history, sociology, economics, journalism, media, psychology, and philosophy,
in addition to some manuscripts, periodicals, and letters. Al-Alamein Library
is unique in that it possesses a unique collection of books on law and
political science, and it is a pure source from which solid academic and
scientific studies can be drawn.
Vision, Mission, Goals and Tasks
First: The vision is for the library of the two sciences to be a
standard hub based on serving researchers, academics and seminarians, in the
wide geographical area to which it belongs.
Second: The Mission:
Supporting the educational process and supporting scientific
research by providing access to information sources and references in various
forms and types.
Electronic research: The library seeks to provide electronic
research in addition to the electronic library.
Library departments: cataloging and classification, lending, book
and manuscript restoration, manuscript verification, typesetting, electronic
library.
Strategic Plan:
Building good digital content and linking it to the electronic
index according to the MARC 21 system, which is the most modern indexing system
in the world..
The library will operate as a research institution in the field of
libraries and information and will regain its role in leading library work and
research in the field of libraries..
Supporting employee culture, promoting training and rehabilitation
processes, and reaching competent employees, creating automated indexes.
Library work system
The library operates according to the Library of Congress
Classification (LC Web) system and is registered according to (Mark 21), which
is an international system used in most well-known international libraries. The
library staff in the Cataloging and Classification Unit have undergone several
courses in this field, and the library is one of the first libraries to operate
with this system in Iraq.

The library computerization with one of the computer application
programs in libraries and information centers (MARC 21) and work is in progress
