On Wednesday, April 29, 2026, the Al-Alamein Library at the Al-Alamein Institute for Graduate Studies announced the establishment of a special wing dedicated to the great Arab poet, Muhammad Mahdi al-Jawahiri. This initiative aims to preserve and document his writings and works about him, making them accessible to researchers and those interested in literary and cultural heritage. This development is the result of the late scholar Sayyid Muhammad Bahr al-Uloom's (may God have mercy on him) dedication to acquiring and collecting al-Jawahiri's works and studies. His efforts included numerous cultural gatherings and festivals held over many years in Najaf, Baghdad, Kuwait, London, and Damascus, contributing to the creation of a substantial literary archive that reflects the depth of cultural exchange. The wing houses a vast collection of works, the largest of its kind, including al-Jawahiri's collected poems in various editions and annotations, as well as memoirs, diaries, and master's and doctoral theses written about al-Jawahiri, his poetry, and his literary output in both print and electronic formats. It also features a comprehensive archive of magazines, newspapers, and proceedings of seminars and cultural events that celebrated his poetic achievements. The memorial and commemoration, with more than 500 diverse sources, serves as a specialized knowledge hub that allows researchers to trace Al-Jawahiri’s journey and analyze his poetic, intellectual, and cultural output.
