Al-Alamein discusses the transition to a sustainable green economy through the duality of Iraq's thirst and zero waste.


Under the auspices of the Prime Minister and in cooperation with the Bahr Al-Ulum Charitable Foundation, the El Alamein Center for Continuing Education at the El Alamein Institute for Graduate Studies organized an expanded symposium.

Within the National Initiative for Youth Development, in partnership with the Najaf Governorate Diwan, the Supreme Council for Youth, the Ishtar Team, and the Bahr Al-Ulum Forum, on Tuesday 10/21/2025


The session opened with a speech by the Dean of the Institute, Prof. Dr. Zaid Al-Agili, who praised the governorate's role and ongoing cooperation, as well as academic exchange with universities to benefit from ideas for improving the environment and investing in modern studies.


Najaf Governor Yousef Kanawi highlighted the institute's distinguished initiatives and its deanship's active engagement in presenting advanced ideas, emphasizing his commitment to improving service delivery in the coming days.


Assistant Professor Dr. Ahmed Al Ramahi, Director of Continuing Education, explained, "We discussed the most important issues related to the sustainable environment and engaged in dialogue with specialists and stakeholders to come up with productive decisions to improve the environment."


Meanwhile, Namarq Jawad, Director of the Zero Waste Initiative, emphasized that "preserving the environment is no longer an option, but rather a national necessity and a collective responsibility." She noted that the initiative seeks to raise environmental awareness and implement sustainable practices across various sectors to reduce waste and transform it into recyclable resources.


The session moderator, Prof. Dr. Mohammed Yas, Head of the Department of Political Science, emphasized the need to present new studies on the platform as a focal point for work and planning. Participants discussed a number of ideas and visions to contribute to the development of relevant departments.


The symposium concluded with several recommendations related to environmental awareness and education, waste and natural resource management, vegetation protection, combating desertification, pollution control, and public health protection.


In conclusion, the parties that cooperated in the seminar were honored.
