On Saturday, October 11, 2025, the Department of Mass Communication at the El Alamein Institute for Graduate Studies organized a scientific workshop entitled "Writing Skills and Problems in Scientific Research." The workshop was presented by Professor Kamel Hassoun El-Qayem, who reviewed the most important skills and basic requirements for writing scientific research, emphasizing the importance of psychological preparation for researchers and mastering computer skills in the fields of printing and design. He also emphasized the need for continuous communication with the academic supervisor and establishing a weekly schedule to manage the research stages. Dr. El-Qayem also addressed a set of methodological guidelines that help researchers overcome common problems, including recognizing the importance of time and avoiding excessive fear of what they read or hear. He also emphasized understanding the researcher's primary task and ensuring the availability of an appropriate analytical sample. He also emphasized the importance of short-term training and utilizing rare references.
The lecturer pointed out the necessity of utilizing the art of scientific writing and employing illustrative figures and diagrams, while paying attention to linguistic and spelling revision, reviewing previous research models regarding the reference system, plans, and writing tools, and seeking the assistance of subject matter experts when necessary. Dr. Al-Qayyim highlighted the most prominent problems and pitfalls facing researchers during the writing stage, calling for the selection of accurate and attractive titles, treating the theoretical framework as a fundamental focus of the research, and adhering to a concise and clear style in presenting scientific ideas.
The workshop was attended by Professor Dr. Zaid Al-Akeili, Dean of the Institute, Professor Dr. Ahmed Abdel Majeed, Head of the Department of Media, and a number of department professors and graduate students in the writing and preparatory stages.
