The UNDP Resident Representative in Iraq visits Al-Alamein Institute and delivers a lecture to its students.


On Monday, November 17, 2015, the Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme in Iraq, Teton Mitra, visited Al-Alamein Institute for Graduate Studies. He was received by His Excellency Dr. Ibrahim Bahr Al-Uloom, the General Supervisor, Professor Dr. Zaid Adnan Al-Akeeli, Dean of Al-Alamein Institute for Graduate Studies, the heads of departments at the institute, and Mr. Haider Bahr Al-Uloom, Director of the Bahr Al-Uloom Charitable Foundation.
Dr. Ibrahim Bahr Al-Uloom welcomed the visiting guest, wishing him a successful visit to the holy city of Najaf. Following this, Mr. Haider Bahr Al-Uloom, Director of the Bahr Al-Uloom Charitable Foundation, spoke, providing an overview of the foundation's activities in various fields. Then, the Dean of Al-Alamein Institute gave a detailed presentation about the institute, its academic departments and specializations, and an overview of its scientific, research, and academic activities. After a tour of the institute's departments, halls, and large library, Mr. Titon Mitra, the Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme in Iraq, delivered a lecture to the institute's postgraduate students (Master's, PhD, and Higher Diploma programs). The lecture was moderated by the Head of the Political Science Department, Professor Dr. Muhammad Yass Khudair. This was preceded by a welcoming address from Professor Dr. Zaid Al-Akeeli, Dean of the Institute, who spoke about the institute's standing, importance, and the significant efforts it undertakes as the scientific and academic arm of the Bahr Al-Uloom Charitable Foundation.
The international official's lecture addressed spatial, rather than sectoral, development in southern Iraq, outlining how to achieve this, the challenges facing the project, and the importance of resources and mechanisms for their investment, leveraging the energy of the youth and technological advancements. The guest then answered questions and comments from the attending professors and students of the institute.
