Director of the Bahr Al-Ulum Foundation: The scholar Sayyid Muhammad Ali Bahr Al-Ulum was a unique model that combined the present and heritage, and knowledge and action.

Mr. Haidar Bahr al-Ulum, Director of the Bahr al-Ulum Charitable Foundation, affirmed on Thursday, September 4, 2025, that His Eminence, Hujjat al-Islam wal-Muslimin Dr. Sayyid Muhammad Ali Bahr al-Ulum (may God have mercy on him), was a unique model who combined the present with heritage, knowledge with action, adhering to his religious principles and supreme authority, while at the same time being open to innovation in discourse.

During his meeting with a group of university graduates from across Iraq as part of the "Promising" group, he reviewed the deceased's life stages, emphasizing that his personality was based on three main pillars: morals, knowledge, attachment to the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them), and service to Hussein. He explained that he was distinguished by his humility, honesty, and great respect for young and old, and that he was an acceptable mediator in resolving social disputes and a refuge for people. He was known for his smile and his continuous service to those in need.

He pointed out that the late great scholar was keen on balanced dialogue between religious scholars and academics. He represented an important link between the seminary and university communities, and was able to fill that void. He was keen to bridge the gap between them through calm and constructive dialogue, and thus he was able to gain the respect of both groups.

He said that the late scholar Dr. Sayyid Muhammad Ali Bahr al-Ulum devoted a significant portion of his life to caring for orphans (approximately 3,400 orphans) through financial and moral support, establishing a charitable medical complex, educational and rehabilitation programs, and caring for widows.

He explained that the deceased studied under prominent religious authorities such as al-Wahid al-Khorasani and Sayyid al-Hakim, and was distinguished by his ability to simplify complex ideas. He authored books including "The Divine Imamate," and he used to walk during the Arbaeen pilgrimage, passing away after his last trip there. He was active in preaching the Husseini message and participating in processions. He also chaired the Hajj Scientific Committee and supported religious guides.

Stressing that his passing left a deep void and sadness, his moral, scientific, and humanitarian legacy will remain immortal in the hearts of his loved ones.
